Sean Spicer: Sexual misconduct allegations against Trump 'should be treated seriouslytrum

Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Wednesday the women who accused President Trump of sexual misconduct during the 2016 campaign "should be treated seriously."

“I would say that all allegations should be treated seriously. I think we can’t dismiss people who make those,” Spicer told Fox Business when asked directly about Trump's accusers.

But Spicer said those facing allegations of inappropriate behavior should be given the opportunity to defend themselves, as the U.S. is "a country of due process."

He said the system of dealing with such complaints is complicated when the alleged victim is accusing an elected official.

"Depending on what level of government it is, there are appropriate venues that that can be discussed in," Spicer said. "But ultimately, beyond those venues, then there's obviously voters who get to make a decision whether or not the allegations that ... have been made, they have to weigh those in terms of how they are going to vote for a particular individual."

Spicer added that he was not privy to any new information regarding the women who came forward during the election and claimed Trump had sexually harassed and assaulted them.

While Trump apologized for the language he used during the infamous "Access Hollywood" tape released on the eve of the election, he has vehemently denied all other accusations.
